Modern History

Students will learn about the formation of the modern world since the Reformation era. The course will primarily focus on European history but will demonstrate the significance of events in Europe for the United States as well as the significance of the influence of the United States on Europe.

Assessment. Each semester, students write one essay using classical essay structure, write one research paper, and take two exams. At the conclusion of each semester, all students participate in Defense Day by giving a brief presentation on a topic of their choice from the course and responding to questions.
